Opening a Swiss bank account

Tip! Open a Swiss bank account. Switzerland has its own currency and a thriving economy. By opening a bank account, you will not be disadvantaged by exchange rate fluctuations and you will benefit from a very stable currency. To get you started: here's a short step-by-step plan.

Select a bank

Compare the different providers and make the choice that best suits your needs. When making a choice, you need to take into account things like bank charges, bank reputation, how much needs to be deposited at minimum, and how other customers experience the bank's service (reviews).

Get in touch

After comparing banks, it's time to get in touch with the bank. The easiest way is to do this online, but a phone call or physical visit is of course also possible. Look closely at the options, as with many banks you have to arrange everything online as standard.

Provide personal information and documents

To open a bank account, the bank often asks you to provide a number of documents. Of course, this is usually a valid ID or a copy of your passport. However, the bank also wants to know where your monthly income comes from.

Fill in the application form

Make the first deposit

After the bank's approval, you can make the first deposit. The amount of this deposit depends on the bank and the type of account you are going to use.

Verify the account

At the moment the bank has received and processed your deposit, the bank will inform you about the account details and how you can log in. You will also receive the correct usernames and passwords.
