Ibiza attracts people with its laid-back atmosphere, stunning nature, international vibe, and that constant “holiday feeling.”

To take into account...
As you’ve probably noticed by now, preparing for a move to Ibiza is a bit different from relocating to mainland Spain. So what should you pay (extra) attention to?
- Overseas relocation.Your household belongings will need to be shipped to the island, packed into a container and delivered by sea. Fortunately, we have the right partners both in the Netherlands and on Ibiza to handle this for you.
- Limited housing supply and higher property prices.Ibiza is small and highly sought after. Just like in the Netherlands, housing can be scarce and expensive — especially in popular areas.
- Paperwork and local bureaucracy. Apply early for your NIE number, local registration (empadronamiento), and healthcare. We strongly recommend contacting a local gestor to help you navigate these systems.
- Higher cost of living.Groceries, fuel, and dining out tend to be more expensive on Ibiza than on the mainland, especially during the summer. Note: island life is not always cheaper than life in the Netherlands.
- Schools & children.Ibiza has several excellent international schools. If you’re relocating with kids, be sure to register early — spots can be limited.
- Nature and peace vs. party island.Ibiza has two sides: the famous party scene and a peaceful, nature-oriented lifestyle. Choose your new home location carefully. The north is quieter and more nature-focused, while the south is livelier and more vibrant.
- Bringing or buying a car?.
- Taxes are different.Just like in mainland Spain, you’ll pay taxes, but certain regulations (such as tourist tax or inheritance tax) may differ in the Balearic Islands. We recommend consulting a reliable gestor for local advice.
