Madeira
Emigrating to Madeira
Why Madeira?
The Island of Flowers, the Floating Garden, or the Island of Eternal Spring. These are some of the charming nicknames for this beautiful island, which, not surprisingly, is known for its stunning nature. In particular, retirees are increasingly moving to Madeira, but it’s also becoming an attractive option for entrepreneurs. Here are some reasons to consider relocating:

8 reasons to move to Madeira
- Fantastic flora and fauna
- A haven for digital nomads and remote workers. There's even a 'Digital Nomad Village' in Ponta do Sol.
- The desire to live on an island with a pleasant climate within Europe. Temperatures are rarely extremely high or low.
- Attractive for freelancers and entrepreneurs. If you start a business, you could benefit from a reduced corporate tax rate of 5%, provided you meet certain criteria.
- Very safe. There's almost no crime.
- Peaceful and friendly population
- The language. Due to the large expat and digital nomad communities, English is widely spoken alongside Portuguese.
- The healthcare System of Madeira is very strong. The island offers both public hospitals and private clinics.

Emigrating without stress
To take into account...
- Madeira has special tax rules. Although it is part of the Republic of Portugal, it has a unique status. Your benefit here is that you do not have to pay the 21% VAT on moving and transport costs.
- Madeira is becoming an increasingly attractive and suitable island for investors. In recent years, many countries have started to close their doors to foreign investors and have stopped issuing Golden Visas. However, Madeira has not yet implemented this, making it an appealing option for those looking to invest.
