Malta
Emigrating to Malta
Nice prospect, I must say. Emigrating to an island in the Mediterranean with more than 300 days of sunshine a year. Those are nice plans, you're doing great! We understand better than anyone that an emigration involves a lot. That is why we are already helping you on your way. Are you reading along?
Why choose this island?
The thriving economy, combined with a relaxed lifestyle and great climate, are some of the key reasons people decide to move to Malta. It’s not just a popular destination for young people (whether for a gap year or a few years of work), but we’re also seeing more and more people making the move there permanently. What’s going to be your reason? We’ve put together the following list of reasons:

6 reasons to move to Malta
- More than 300 days of sunshine per year!
- A thriving economy, providing high employment rates. This is great for expats too!
- The English language is the daily lingua franca. Integrating is therefore much easier than, say, on Crete or Cyprus.
- Affordable healthcare. Malta offers a free public healthcare system. If you’re an expat, you can become a member through your residency permit and social security number. Private healthcare is also much cheaper, saving you time on waiting lists.
- Very low crime rates.
- Income tax and social security contributions are lower than in the Netherlands or Belgium.
Transport possibilities
We offer you four moving options:
Excellent: Completely carefree — you choose the moving dates! Everything is arranged for you, from moving boxes to packing, loading, and unloading.
Comfort: The quality of a certified moving company, but still affordable moving. To reduce costs, various household goods are combined.
Regular: Good option if you plan to help with moving tasks, but still want the most important moving activities to be guaranteed.
Budget: We take care of transportation, you arrange the rest!

How to emigrate without stress?
Moving to an island naturally brings different challenges than a regular domestic move. That also applies to Malta. From a logistical point of view, it always has a bit more challenge when you compare it to the mainland.
In addition, there’s a lot of preparation and bureaucracy involved, which can cause stress for many people. Especially when time pressure arises while waiting for approvals, all of which you’re managing from your home country. And we haven’t even touched on the emotional stress yet.
In short, we want nothing more than for you to have a smooth relocation to Malta, so we’re happy to share our experiences with you. From temporary storage of furniture to handling all the paperwork, we’re here for you. From start to finish, door to door.
To take into account...
Don't forget to...
- Apply for your Maltese ID card right away. This isn’t just your ID there, but it will also serve as your tax number for filing your taxes. You can apply at the main office of Identity Malta in Msida for yourIdentity Malta.
- A Maltese driving license is valid for one year. After this, you’ll need to switch to a Maltese driving license.
- Once you have a social security number and a residency card, you can make use of Malta’s public healthcare system.
