Emigrating to the Caribbean
Living on a tropical island. Many people want it, few people actually take the step. In short: we think you're a true adventurer! As with any overseas move, a lot of preparation is involved and there's plenty of bureaucracy. On this page, we try to help you get started. Not only with the moving options you have but also with some useful tips. Read along?
Why do people choose the Caribbean islands?
Yes, really. The Caribbean consists of more than 30 islands. If you include the bays and reefs, there are more than 5,000 (!). The most well-known islands among Dutch people are of course Aruba, Curaçao, Bonaire, and Sint Maarten. In recent years, most relocations have been to these islands. On all islands, Halo Removal Logistics has good partners established who represent Dutch moving quality. The owners of the moving companies are of Dutch origin, so they understand how we want things arranged.
Did you know that Cuba, Jamaica, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic are also part of the Caribbean? We're very curious where you'll be living. And is your reason for leaving in our top 8?
8 reasons to move to the Caribbean
- The opportunity to live on a tropical island and thus always have pleasant temperatures.
- A beautiful area with gorgeous beaches.
- A much quieter and less stressful life.
- Great connections with The Netherlands (when it comes to the Dutch-speaking islands).
- For entrepreneurs, the Bahamas and Cayman Islands are interesting. You don't pay income tax here.
- Integration is easier because they speak Dutch in Aruba, Curaçao, Bonaire, and Sint Maarten.
- Life is cheaper. Just think of housing costs.
- Many beautiful holiday destinations at relatively short travel distances.
Transport possibilities
We offer you four moving options:
Excellent: Fully taken care of and you determine the moving dates! Everything will be arranged for you. From moving boxes to packing, loading, and unloading.
Comfort: The quality of a certified moving company, but still affordable moving. To reduce costs, various household goods are combined.
Regular: Good option if you plan to help with moving tasks, but still want the most important moving activities to be guaranteed.
Budget: We take care of transportation, you arrange the rest!
Emigrating without stress
Regulations and the Caribbean Islands. This often doesn't go hand in hand with the relaxed atmosphere that prevails on the islands. It's not like in the Netherlands, and while it might seem nice that controls aren't so strict, it can also be bureaucratically troublesome. Be prepared for this.
Additionally, an international move involves much more than a domestic move. Not only the move itself but also the emotional moments of saying goodbye to your family can be difficult. From experience, we can say that this causes many people quite some stress. We therefore want to take care of the entire moving process for you. From storing your belongings to the journey and customs clearance. Halo Removal Logistics moves you from door to door and helps you with all the paperwork.
To take into account...
- Did you know you can get a tax exemption for importing your belongings to the Caribbean part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands? For this, you need to have owned your belongings for at least six months.
- Want to bring your car too? Different import rules apply. Your car must be in your possession for at least twelve months before you can import it tax-free. Additionally, only one car per family (for private use) may be imported.
